Magos Aelhan Ares

Magos Aelhan Ares of the Adeptus Mechanicus was a well-known name of the Angevin Crusade. Most Explorator fleets focus exclusively on the obsessive interests of the Tech Priests, but Ares and his Explorator fleet Kappa Seven took an active role in hostilities. His priests and researchers were vital to studying and overcoming the strange technologies of the Yu’vath as well as weaponizing new STC discoveries in near record time.

As the Crusade came to a close, Ares and his fleet became obsessed with the tiny, insular “Republic” of Licenia. Ares was convinced that somewhere in this cluster of politically-linked worlds there was an STC system long forgotten to the Machine Cult. It was undeniable that the Licenians came from an ancient branch of humanity and that their knowledge of starship systems and stasis technology was far in advance of what the Imperium possessed. Exploring a thriving civilization proved challenging in different ways than scouring ruined worlds, however. The Licenians weren’t too thrilled to let the red-robed Tech Priests into their innermost vaults. Compulsion from the new subsector governor could get them only so far.

Ultimately, Magos Ares became convinced that there were even greater secrets beyond the Licenian subsector, off the charts of both Republic and Imperium alike, in the direction of what the Licenians called the Birth Stars. Unfortunately, violent and persistent warp storms lay in that direction, and had for as long as the Licenians’ limited knowledge of the Immaterium recorded. Some of Ares’ experts even theorized that the warp storms that plagued the Licenian subsector from time to time were merely outgrowths of the massive storms enveloping the Birth Stars. Whatever the case, by the time these “outgrowth” storms once again enveloped the subsector, Magos Aelhan Ares had begun preparations to probe the Immaterium in the direction of the Birth Stars with an eye toward an expedition.Magos Aelhan Ares of the Adeptus Mechanicus was a well-known name of the Angevin Crusade.
