Caudexa

Population: 6 million
Tithe Grade: Exactus Minoris
Geography: 78% tundra; with a swath of unmetamorphosed limestone mountains stretching 700 kilometers along the equator as well as a harsh southern pole which has an ice cap approximately 200 kilometers across. No significant life endures long above ground due to the thin atmosphere with a bitterly cold inclement climate 95% of the time planet-wide. The world is suffering from a long ice age that goes back over 1000 years; the population was once over 2 billion, but disease, starvation and planetary conflict have decimated the civilization as well as the environment. The remaining population are all underground, with a medium quality spaceport on the edge of the southern ice field. The 3 main ‘cities’ are complex labyrinths of tunnels and vaults in between elaborately designed multi-level domus on the outer wings. The great palace of the Imperator of Clan Potestus is located in the middle of an octagonal hub with the main vaults of the Administratum located directly above. Five clans form the rest of the ruling nobility- including the Hiberna, the stoic black-skinned masters of the salt mines on Ruthenia.
Government Type: Adeptus Terra
Planetary Governor: Cossus Strabo Sempronia Potestus (Dux Imperium/Imperator of Caudexa)
Adept Presence: An almost forgotten Administratum branch of scribes diligently cataloging the largely outdated, illegible and useless Imperial archives left from over 800 years ago.
Military: Cohors Imperium- heavily armed, well-trained guard to the Dux. The Patricii Militum (heavily armed) serving the noble clans. The Urbani- plebian non-standing militia serving the merchant and middle class (Ghassans). Vigilis Astra- police force assigned to the cargo/transport shuttles that service Ruthenia’s mining operations (melee weapons and rubber bullets), generally controlled by the Clan Hiberna. Five clans form the rest of the ruling nobility- including the Hiberna, those stoic black-skinned masters of the salt mines on Ruthenia.
Trade: The export of the rare opaque, brindled green or striated black limestone from the deeper layers of the mountains, as well as the delicate Ji-lli’shi bird (known for it’s lyrical and haunting melody) are the chief sources of economy. Rare minerals, frozen carbon dioxide and copper are minor exports. Caudexa chiefly imports red meat (for the nobility), medical supplies and wood.

Caudexa has one ‘moon’, Ruthenia; almost as large as Caudexa, it has a moderate-sized highly saline sea locked within a mostly temperate rocky supercontinent surrounded by a biologically diverse ocean. One dominant mountain, dubbed ‘The Emperor’s Throne’, sits at the edge of the northern pole. The moon provides both much of the food supply for Caudexa as well as the second source of economy- large quantities of salt and seafood. The mining and harvesting operations are run from a stronghold at the base of the mountain, with the ‘spaceport’ alongside in a flat valley sheltered from the weather. A day is 45 hours long, and ‘seasons’ are somewhat random.
